League leaders Saracens met reigning AVIVA Champions Leicester Tigers in a match that was surprisingly one sided with Saracens running out 49-10 winners at Allianz Park.

Saracens scored the opening try of the game after just 6 minutes when Richard Wigglesworth picking up the ball and offloading it to Jack Wilson in space who was tackled close to the line but he he still managed to slam the ball into the ground. Owen Farrell converted.

Sarries made it 10-0 soon after thanks to a Farrell penalty from close range.

Leicester scored a penalty of their own 13 minutes later with Ryan Lamb getting them on the score-sheet for the first time in the match.

The home side regained their seven point lead not long after though with Farrell kicking through the posts for another 3 points. The less than ideal kicking weather at Allianz Park not deterring him.

It was becoming a half dominated by Penalties, with Leicester again on kicking duty but five minutes before half time we had our first missed penalty, Lamb kicking just wide from long range.

On the stroke of half time however Leicester got better luck, a below average kick from Farrell was followed up by Graham Kitchener who charged it down brilliantly and scored a vital try for the Tigers. Lamb converted successfully.

The first half ended badly for Kitchener however, 1 minute before half time he was sin binned for foul play.

Leicester were soon punished. Right on the 40 minute mark, Nils Mordt played in Chris Ashton on the right who surged into the empty space and dived over for Saracens’ second try of the match and his 5th in 6 games. They were very fortunate however as Moss’ pass went forward but originally looked inconclusive. After much deliberation the video referee still decided to award the try, hard luck on Leicester, justice slightly prevailed however after Farrell missed the conversion attempt.

The second half started in similar fashion. With Leicester still a man down in the early stages, Saracens wanted to capitalize. A surging run from Chris Wyles was stopped but he did a sterling job to stay on his feet for a bit longer, Wigglesworth picked up the ball and passed left to Mako Vunipola who had the easy job of a short run and a dive over the try line. Ashton converted easily.

Kitchener returned to the Leicester but their fortunes didn’t, Farrell knocked over yet another penalty to put Sarries further ahead.

Leicester were awarded their third penalty of the game fifteen minutes from time but for the second time in the match he kicked wide which all but ensured Leicester were going home empty handed.

This was shortly followed by a long interval after a nasty looking injury to Fly-half Owen Farrell, a neck brace was needed for the Saracens kicker.

Momentum wasn’t affected though and as soon as play eventually restarted Saracens broke free following a scrum thanks to a superb run from Neil de Kock who passed to Jackson Wray who scored Sarries’ fourth try of the match and won them the vital bonus point. Farrell’s replacement Charlie Hodgson converted.

Leicester had a player sin binned for the second time in the game when Thomas Waldrom was booked for a professional foul.

The home side were awarded a penalty try not long after which Hodgson converted.

Saracens were in rampant form now and with five minutes remaining they scored their fifth try of the game when de Kock fed Ashton to get another 5 points on the board, Hodgson also scored a wonderful conversion, near the touchline his kick looked to be going wide but the ball curved violently and somehow went through for another 2 points.
