Accrington Stanley fined over Beattie’s lack of qualifications

League Two side Accrington Stanley have been fined £20,000 due to Manager James Beattie’s qualifications were found to be below the standard required for the division.

The 5 time capped former England International was appointed Stanley boss in May 2013 in what is his first ever management job.

Beattie’s fine comes because he does not hold a UEFA B License, the qualification required in Leagues 1 and 2.

Accrington Stanley are forced to pay £5,000 as soon as a decision is agreed (Stanley have 14 days to appeal should they see fit) and then the remaining £15,000 must be paid if Beattie fails to achieve the neccessary qualifications by May 1st.

Stanley currently sit in 18th following Saturday’s 1-2 away win over Cheltenham, and are 3 points clear of the drop zone and they host Bury next, on the 25th.
