Sheffield Wednesday have lost loanee Connor Wickham to Sunderland as the Premier League club have recalled him.
The former Ipswich man, 20, netted 8 goals in 11 starts at Hillsborough and this loan termination will be a big blow to the Owls’ fight against relegation.
Wednesday are now 19th in the table following an increased run of form under caretaker boss Stuart Gray who was appointed full time boss Saturday.
This was Wickham’s second spell in Sheffield after his last stint in a Wednesday shirt came last season where he scored 1 goal in 6 games.
The Englishman signed for Sunderland from Ipswich for £8.1 million back in 2011 but has only made 9 league appearances for the Black Cats.
